KDSP offers information and resources to help you provide the best care possible for your patients with Down syndrome or for your new or expectant families.
If you are preparing to deliver a prenatal or postnatal diagnosis of Down syndrome, you may refer to the videos here (Discussing Down syndrome – a physician’s guide by the National Down Syndrome Congress, USA) for suggestions on how to best deliver the diagnosis and provide support for these families.
The KDSP Parent Mentor Program offers your new and expectant families accurate, up-to-date information and an opportunity to speak with a trained parent mentor. We encourage you to refer new and expectant families to this program.
If you are caring for an individual with Down syndrome, the American Academy of Pediatrics recently published updated health care guidelines. The guidelines provide information about health concerns for individuals with Down syndrome from birth through adulthood.
Thank you for taking time to research options that will help you provide individuals with Down syndrome and their families with the information, resources and support that they need.
