Celebrating Inclusion: Our Public Awareness Journey

KDSP’s annual celebrations and awareness initiatives have played a vital role in advocating for acceptance, inclusion, and empowerment of individuals with Down syndrome. Here’s a look at our journey through the years — from impactful awareness campaigns to joyful public events.

2022

Back with a Bang

The 7th Carnival returned with 5,500+ attendees enjoying food, games, performances, and a renewed spirit of inclusion. It continues to be a hallmark event for KDSP’s World Down Syndrome Day campaign.

2021

Carnival in a Box

Due to COVID-19, we brought joy home with Carnival in a Box, delivered to 700 families. Our awareness video, “Connect with Down Syndrome,” depicted sibling love and emphasized compassion and capability.

2020

Storytelling & Awareness

The 6th Carnival welcomed 5,500 guests and introduced Kahani Ghar — immersive storytelling experiences led by Khaled Anam, Shehzad Ghias, and others. KDSP also launched an awareness video to challenge perceptions and build empathy.

2019

Double the Music

Held again at DHA Sports Club, the 5th Carnival featured lively performances by Zoe and Rachel Viccaji, puppet shows, dance competitions, and inclusive games for all abilities.

2018

A Jungle of Joy

Our 4th Carnival, themed around a jungle adventure, brought over 3,000 people to DHA Sports Club. The event featured food, art, and a vibrant concert by Zoe Viccaji, spotlighting the creativity of individuals with Down syndrome.

2017

Music & Milestones

The 3rd Carnival welcomed 3,000+ attendees and introduced our first Goodwill Ambassador, Ali Hamza of Noori. The song “Aao Humaray Saath Chalo” was released in collaboration with Zehra Nigah and celebrated by celebrities across Pakistan.

2016

Expanding the Celebration

Our 2nd Carnival introduced craft stalls by individuals with Down syndrome, interactive games, and performances. 2,000 attendees joined, and a city-wide awareness campaign emphasized the importance of early intervention.

2015

KDSP hosted its first Carnival at Beach Luxury Hotel, attended by 1,700 people. A celebration of inclusion, the event featured games, activities, and awareness through 21 billboards across Karachi — symbolizing Trisomy 21.
