Early Pre-School Experience Program (EPEP)

(Age Group: 1.5 to 3.0 years)

The Early Preschool Program (EPEP) was launched in 2017 and is a 1 year program which is specifically designed to prepare an individual with Down syndrome for a confident transition and settlement into a mainstream school after their graduation from EPEP. The students cover age-appropriate goals that focus on areas such as communication/language, fine and gross motor, socio-emotional, cognition/play, and self-help skills which are implemented in a ‘school-specific’ routine to prepare students for a classroom setting. Upon graduation, students are encouraged to enroll in mainstream inclusive schools through the support of the program for inclusive education.

Program for Inclusive Education (PIE)

(Age Group: 2.5 to 5.5 years)

The Program for Inclusion Education (PIE) was launched in 2016. Through PIE, KDSP helps students secure admissions into mainstream schools; enabling them to continue their education alongside typical peers. Through the PIE General service, KDSP provides facilitation to parents on making Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and offers awareness sessions to schools about the benefits of inclusion for students, parents and teachers. PIE also conducts trainings on developing IEPs and using pedagogical tools which are needed to promote optimal learning in the classroom. This equips school stakeholders, parents, teachers and special educators with the strategies they need to meet the learning needs of students with Down syndrome.

TAILORED-ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TAP)

(Age Group: 7.0 to 13.0 years)

The Tailored Assistance Program (TAP) is an afternoon program which was launched in 2019. The program aims to provide academic assistance to students to help them develop academic, daily living and social skills in order for them to become independent and do chores on their own. TAP equips students with functional numeracy, literacy, cognition and memory and life skills based on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
